Sunday 29. January at 3 pm - Artis´s Talk Harpa Björnsdóttir - Pleacer Harpa will lead a tour and discussion her exhibition Pleacer. The work of Harpa Björnsdóttir (b. 1955) deals in one way or another with the role and place of the artist, the message he brings to his environment and the cultural world of ideas and symbols which artists often refer to. Harpa has taken part in several group exhibition and solo exhibitions. In the piece Pleaser from 2007, the artist uses herself as subject. She approaches the idea of the artist as a bringer of joy with childlike humour by bringing together a human being and a bird, both sing to their hearts´ content and bear fruit in the minds of human beings. Sunday 12. February at 3 pm - Curator's Talk Ólöf K. Sigurðardóttir - Still life The exhibition Still life focuses on the concept still life paintings by Icelandic artists of different generations. Most of the works are by 20th century Icelandic painters, some of whom have dedicated a substantial part of their careers to still life, but also by artists who are known for works of an altogether different kind. The concept Still life is wideranging and has changed through the course of time. The works reflect the spirit of the times and ideas about the artistic interpretation of form and content at each time. One of the curator Ólöf K.
