On this occasion selected contempoary art works from the original collection will be displayed along side with other private collectors' works. This will be used as an inspiration to brainstorm about private art collections and collectors. What drives collectors to buy art and what is the value of these collections?
The private collectors are Gunnar Dungal and his wife Þórdís Alda Sigurðardóttir, Bragi Guðlaugsson, Ingunn Wernersdóttir and Sverrir Kristinsson.
The collections are diverse and display important art works from Icelandic contemporary art history. Furthermore many of these art works are unique and some have never been exhibited before however each private collector has their own emphasis.

Collectors' Collections
An exhibition on the occasion of 100 years anniversary of Sverrir Magnússon the founder of Hafnarborg. Dr. Sverrir Magnússon and his wife Ingibjörg Sigurjónsdóttir, both pharmacists, laid the foundation of Hafnarborg in 1983 by donating their house and an extensive art collection to the council of Hafnarfjordur. The museum's collection has grown considerably since.On this occasion selected contempoary art works from the original collection will be displayed along side with other private collectors' works.
