The Sea and the Fishing Town - Sveinn Björnsson

The exhibition of Sveinssafn (collection of Sveinn Björnsson’s art work) at Hafnarborg is named the Sea and the fishing town.  It is based on his art work which depicts the sea and everything around it.  Björnsson’s artwork derives from this theme as he used to say that the sea was his greatest inspiration.  The exhibition will consist of large paintings owned by private companies and institutions.  The fishing town Hafnarfjordur has had a lot of impact on Björnsson’s art and later his subject matter developed into an interesting fantasy world which this exhibition will also reveal. 
The exhibition is dedicated to the town’s 100 years anniversary but Sveinn Björnsson worked for a long time as a fisherman in Hafnarfjordur after he finished his art studies.
