Hildur Ýr Jónsdóttir - Jewelry - Sculptures

Hildur Ýr was born in Hafnarfjordur in 1976. She finished her A-levels at Flensborg College in 1997 and then studied design at the Technical College of Hafnarfjordur. She completed her further studies at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, Holland and graduated with a BA in Modern Jewellery Design. Hildur Ýr has participated in many combined exhibitions in Iceland and Holland, for example the design exhibition Magma/Kvika at Kjarvalsstaðir summer 2007 and Gallerie Marzee, the International Graduation show in 2006. Her works are mostly based on Icelandic nature and cultural inheritance. Her work has caught the attention of the public and the media. Hildur Ýr was awarded the encouraging grant from the cultural and tourist committee of Hafnarfjordur council in 2007.
